Rice starch is a natural ingredient derived from rice flour (Oryza sativa): a very fine white powder that dissolves easily in water and is used in both cooking and cosmetics.
Applied to skin in contact with water, it calms and soothes redness, itching and chafing. The gentleness of its composition makes it perfect for the skin of babies and children, sensitive and delicate by nature.
For the bath, 3 or 4 tablespoons of pure rice starch dissolved in the tub are enough. The child can stay in the water for about ten minutes, then be dried carefully with soft, hypoallergenic fabrics such as cotton or linen. No other product is needed: the starch works on scalp and hair too.
For redness and itching, make an emollient compress by mixing water and starch into a spreadable paste, applied after the bath or cleansing and left on for around ten minutes.
